Back in the day, the British Government issued perpetual bonds. That's right - they paid a coupon rate FOR EVER.
Hence the term, "coupon clippers" for the leeches of society, if I have this right.

Perpetuals, I know... And oddly, they are able to calculate the "present value" of such bonds.
