At My Budget 360: 9 charts showing Americans never recovered from the Great Recession. Good article. One of the topics is student loans:
We absolutely have a student debt crisis. Over $1.3 trillion in student debt is circulating in the economy. Student debt is the most delinquent debt class in America. The cost of attending college has left many people with a mortgage sized debt before even owning a home.
And while debt in some categories has fallen, student loan debt seems only to increase.
I don't mean to minimize the problem. I just need to be clear on one point: Debt doesn't circulate. Debt stays with the debtor.
The money we borrow circulates. The debt remains with the borrower.
It's a small point. But it is necessary to think clearly about these things.
